Delhi’s night life isn’t much to talk of, but the last few years have seen an upswing in the culture of live music. When Blue Frog came to Delhi, and it was this cool place we had heard of or been to in Mumbai, we really wanted to go. After many months of thinking about it, the visit came to pass today thanks to Elvis. Yup. Bryan and the Bandits were performing a tribute to the king of rock and roll. And Rahul wasnt about to pass up a chance ti hear Elvis hits!
We rounded up a bunch of enthusiasts, young and not so young and proceeded to have a good time!
I can write reams on the too well heeled Delhi crowd trying to sway politely to Jailhouse rock. But despite the thin crowd, there were some true Elvis lovers and many retro lovers and done of us who thoroughly enjoyed shaking a leg!
In my book, Blue Frog Delhi scores a high fit being located right next to the Qutb Minar, one of the most striking and iconic pieces of heritage this city has. I can imagine an entire entertainment district coming up here. A pedestrianised hub of music bars, good food, stand up shows and the like. Could be a money spinner for the city and a great boost to tourism, even if they shut everything at midnight! Tonight, the Qutb was lit pink thanks to Plan India, in honour of the girl child’s rights which we are celebrating today.
